Amazon has a great deal on the latest games for all consoles. You can take advantage of this deal up until Sunday, November 13.
It is called the Amazon Double Dip and when you purchase two qualifying games, not only do you save $10 on each game, but you also receive a $30 credit that can applied towards future game purchases. I bought Fallout New Vegas as a Christmas gift and was surprised to receive an email telling me that I earned a $10 credit good towards my purchase of 12 months of Xbox Live. Take a look at the qualifying games here:

Netflix on PS3...Disc-free at Last
Beginning this Monday, October 18, Sony will be ditching the necessary disc in order to provide us gamers with a disc-less Netflix experience. Not only will we be able to start up Netflix and stream movies instantly, but the whole interface is being beefed up. This will lend to much quicker playback times and easier browsing. We are also being promised 1080p high definition and 5.1 surround sound...it's about dang time! Having all three current gen consoles, I have the luxury of being able to compare the streaming Netflix feature between the three of them. I was shocked at just how janky the PS3's was. I had much preferred using the 360 to watch my movies and shows, but we will see if that changes. I heard something about a search function being included with the upgrade, something that all three consoles are currently lacking. If you want a sneak peak, check out the video at the following link. Apparently Canada got the update back in September..darn you Canada!

Getting Up There
My gamer score is getting pretty high. I've seen much higher, but considering the amount of free time that I have I'm pretty happy with my score! It will be a great day when I break 20,000.
Surprisingly Fun
I haven't been playing many games lately. This is mainly due to me being so busy with a new round of classes recently. Ok, truth is, I'm broke! After claiming that I do not usually play games based off of movies, TV shows, or books..I had the strong urge to play Toy Story 3. Could have been that I was drawn in by the bright colors. This game was simply ALOT of fun! It had a fair amount of platforming, which is always fun. There was also a sandbox style game mode. I spent a good few hours running around in this mode completing various missions that were extremely easy, but fun nonetheless. A certain level/area of the game involved a number of different missions where you are riding around in a either a tiny car or a sort of monster truck. My four year old son, Riley really enjoyed driving the car around. He typically has a rough time with the analog sticks, but in this game the controls were so easy he had a good time. I sort of wanted to go for all the achievements, but ended up with most of them. I could have had 1000/1000 if I wanted to tough out all the item collection after I beat the game.

Kirby's Epic Yarn Excites Me!
Something about the bright colors, adorable characters, and unique art style have drawn me to this game ever since I first got word of it. It's the tenth installment in the Kirby series and due to be released on October 17 for the Wii.
The kiddos are diggin'
My young'uns are exactly that..young! I have a 4 year old son and a 2 year old daughter. Both of them enjoy gaming on their own little levels and I find myself constantly struggling to find games simple enough for both of them to play. So far Learning with the PooYoos (available via download from Nintendo's WiiWare) has proven to be their favorite so far. This game is very simple and rather short, but I find them playing it over and over. It is also a great game to teach little ones the basics of using the Wiimote. The colorful animation and simple gameplay proves that the game is geared towards toddlers, a rare instance in the gaming world. In a way it reminds me a show they would watch on Nick Jr. or Playhouse Disney. There are two game modes to chose from, one that my 2 year old has no problem with, and the other slightly more difficult. The onscreen characters guide the player through some simple games with actions that require them to point the Wiimote and push one button. There is even a stage in the game where the children are encouraged to dance along with the game characters.
What I'm Playing: Week of 9/13
I hit up GameStop with some trade-ins this past weekend. I was surprised at just how much I got for the three games I traded ($42.00). I usually am shocked at how low the trade in value is on most games, but this wasn't the case this time 'round. I also had a $25 gift card that I earned from one of my various survey sites. So this is what I left the store with:
Hello!
I better start this off with an introduction. My name is Courtney. I was born, raised, and am still stuck in southern California. I tried the blogging gig, but found I lose interest too quickly. I think this is due to the fact that I never really sat down and planned on a unified theme for my past blogging attempts. It left me confused about what type of posts to make and bored me to no end. I'm hoping that this time around will be different. I decided to blog about a passion of mine; video games. Yes, I am a grown woman, and a mother, yet I still enjoy gaming on a daily basis. Not to offend anyone, but I'm not one of those lame Farmville, The Sims, "games based off of a movie" type gamers. I have the pleasure of owning all three of the current generation consoles; 360, PS3, and Wii. I also have a Nintendo DS and have owned a couple PSPs in the past.
My tastes in game genres is sort of diverse. I enjoy a good RPG, turn based or action. I play some sports games, but do not take them too seriously. Platformers are always fun and I find the lack of new games of this type slightly depressing. Rhythm games are fun, but not my cup of tea unless we are talking about DJ Hero, which I LOVE.
My aim here is to talk about games, plain and simple. I'd like to do some reviews, provide some previews, rant a little bit, and show off my gaming and entertainment collection.
